A year ago I suffered a stroke which left thewhole left side of my body completely numb. It was absolutely terrifying. I have diabetes and had not been looking after myself properly which led to my stroke.
Because of my stroke, I could not drive, needed help walking, could not think clearly, and was really in bad shape.
I knew about Oxychai from my aunt who had been suffering from Long Covid and had seen tremendous benefits when she tried hyperbaric oxygen therapy. Initially, I was hesitant as 40 consecutive sessions is a big undertaking but with the support of my wife, I decided to give it a try.
I started Oxychai a week after I had suffered the stroke. My experience at Oxychai was phenomenal. The staff were professional and caring and Sarah the manager went out of her way to make my experience smooth and comfortable. There was reading material, magazines, and other amenities which made my time there first-class.
After a load of sessions, I began to feel pins and needles in my left side and I was worried however Sarah assured me that this was a positive sign as this meant the oxygen was getting to my muscles and the spasticity had begun to decline. After 40 sessions, I was a different man. I started to take up driving again, could walk without much difficulty, started working, and could lead an independent life. My physio was amazed at the speed of my recovery and could not get over how well I was doing!
During my time at Oxychai I was lucky to spend time with all types of people, we supported each other and encouraged one another. I am very lucky to live in Manchester, a town that is full of people who want to give to the community. I am especially grateful that Oxychai has been set up in the centre of our community giving me the chance to heal from my stroke.
I would fully recommend anyone who has had a stroke or any type of brain damage to try Hyperbaric Oxygen therapy as the results are truly tremendous.
I would like to thank Oxychai on behalf of my wife and I for all they did for me and I wish them much success going forward.
Thank you.
