My long Covid journey

Updated: Dec 2, 2024

My story began three years ago when covid was ravaging the world. I had caught covid and was not feeling good I was hoping that the symptoms would pass and that soon I would be back to myself. This did not happen.

For the past three years, I have struggled with Long covid. As a young mother of five who is used to running a busy household the effects of long covid were debilitating. I would tell my friends that I felt as though the battery has died inside of me and I just had no strength or energy to deal with everyday life.

I try to do weekly pilates classes to keep fit. One day my instructor approached me she had seen how long I'd been struggling with long covid, and suggested I try Hyperbaric oxygen treatment. At first, I was reluctant as it was a busy time of year and I really didn't have the energy to try a new therapy but then I figured I had nothing to lose so I began attending sessions.

So far I have done 11 sessions. The results have been miraculous for me. I feel as though the light and sparkle are back in my life. When I wake up in the morning I feel properly alive and ready for the day, I can breathe in deeper and feel so refreshed. My family and friends have remarked to me that I seem happier and full of life just from hearing me over the phone. I am pregnant so initially I was unsure if I was allowed into the chamber but I was told it was fine and even healthy for my unborn child.

As a side point, I had surgery 16 years ago and was left with some scarring. For the past 16 years one of my scars has been internally itchy and no matter what I did the itch would not abate. Since I have started Hyperbaric oxygen treatment the scar is no longer itchy.

Thank you so much Sarah for everything you do!
