Lyme disease
What is Lyme disease?
Lyme disease is a bacterial infection that is spread to humans via infected ticks. One tick may carry a few different pathogen species and they can transmit them within the same bite. The bite simultaneously affects the person with Lyme disease and one or more other tick born disease.
To be treated each one has to be tested, diagnosed and treated separately in order to rid the body of these destructive pathogens. Lyme disease is found in more than 60 counties including the US, they are generally found in woodland areas. The Centre of Disease Control Prevention says that 300,000 people are diagnosed with Lyme diseases in the US every year. However diagnosing Lyme disease can be difficult and many who people have been misdiagnosed with other conditions due to the symptoms imitating other conditions.
Lyme disease is usually easier to treat the earlier its diagnosed, many develop a circular rash around the tick however 1 in 3 will not develop the rash but instead have muscle/ joint pain, fatigue, headaches, temperature or neck stiffness if left untreated patients develop more serious symptoms such as depression, neurological disorders, blurred vision, chills, foggy memory, anxiety, sleep issues and heart problems.

How can HBOT help patients with Lyme disease?

A special study was conducted with both adults and children using Hyperbaric oxygen on those who suffered from Chronic Lyme disease and had not been helped by intravenous antibiotics. The 66 Lyme Disease participants experienced an average of 85% improvement in their condition using Hyperbaric oxygen therapy, after every other medical therapy had failed.
The Oxford Recovery Centre reports that many of their patients experience an increase in energy, decrease of muscle and joint pain and better sleeping patterns after HBOT treatment. HBOT helps treat Lyme disease by attacking the disease with 100% oxygen in a high pressured environment. Lyme disease is known as a microaerophile and cannot thrive in oxygenated environments. Therefore HBOT helps kill these destructive organisms through the use of oxygen and pressure.
